The first tower has Salem wrote on it and the 2nd tower has Quakers wrote on it. The name Salem Quakers refers to the nickname of the school dist. athletic teams. The city was founded in 1806 and named Salem for the city of Jerusalem which means( City of Peace ). Many of the early settlers of Salem were Quakers.
