This benchmark is mounted vertically on the front of an NRHP registered building known to the NRHP as the Searsport Historical Society Building.

On the south wall facing the street, the benchmark is about four feet above the sidewalk and about one foot west of the east end of the building, right beside a down spout and under the NRHP plaque. Apparently this was originally the Searsport Post Office,which would explain the presence of the BM.
