This plaque is dedicated to Woods' Brigade, commanded by Brig. Gen.
Charles R. Woods in recognition of their service during the
Battle of Missionary Ridge, fought November 25, 1863. The plaque describes the action on Nov.25, 1863. This Battle was part of the
Chattanooga Campaign and is preserved and maintained as part of the
Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park.

The Brigade led the advance of Hooker's column from Lookout, reaching Rossville at 3 o'clock. It pushed through the Gap, the 27th Missouri in advance encountering a battery supported by two regiments of Clayton's Brigade, Stewart's Division. Gen. Woods, surmounting the ridge to the right with the rest of the Brigade, reached the flank of the enemy, captured large part of Clayton's Brigade and one gun. The Brigade then moved north along the eastern base of the Ridge, charging to the summit south of Bragg's Headquarters.

Approximately 700 metal position and descriptive markers with raised lettering. Union marker text painted blue; Confederate marker text painted red.
Long Physical Description
Most of these tablets and plaques have integrity of location, design, setting, materials, workmenship, feeling, and association to the historically significant period of Commemorative/Park Developement (1895-1899).

Note
