The Crossfield Community Memorial Forest spans 11 acres and features two memorial forests planted by the Crossfield Legion and the Crossfield United Church. The park has pathways that wind through a natural treed area with approximately 150 dedicated trees honoring veterans.

Obituary

Ernest Charles Sharp of Crossfield, AB joining his beloved wife Ruth on December 30, 2005; twenty-nine days after his 92nd birthday.

He was born in Port Arthur, Ontario and moved to Alberta in 1917 as his parents pursued the advantages of the West. Ernie will be missed by his four children, Sharon (Welding) Kolstad of Granum, AB, Roberta Whittaker of Crossfield, AB, Jim (Tennis) Sharp of Saskatoon, SK, and Ruth Ann Brown of Calgary, AB. He is survived by his 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. His also survived by his sisters, Helen Clayton and Mabel Winger; his brother Alan and many nieces and nephews.

Ernie was predeceased by his wife Ruth; parents James and Amy; brothers, Roy, Harold, Albert and Lorne; and sister Gertrude Trick.

Ernie and Ruth's passions were stream fishing, lake fishing and ocean fishing for salmon. Their motor home and boat were always packed and ready for their next adventure. After retirement from the automotive business, they spent much of their time traveling and visiting family and friends.

Ernie was a resident of Crossfield, AB for seventy-six years and was blessed with an amazing long-term memory. He was well known as a resourceful area Historian, always enjoying an opportunity to help visitors looking for family information.
