Located next at Kingsley Field Air Base and in the parking lot of the Klamath Falls Interagency Fire Center is an observation tower that memorializes Tanker 61, a firefighting plane that crashed during a fire retardant drop on the Cleveland fire in the Eldorado National Forest, killing its two pilots, Chuck Sheridan and Leonard Martin, on October 1, 1992. There is a plaque located outside next to the observation tower that reads:
TANKER 61 MEMORIALBECAUSE OF THEIR INTEREST IN ILLUSTRATING AERIAL
FIREFIGHTING TO THE VISITORS AT THE BASE ESPECIALLY
THE CHILDREN, THIS OBSERVATION TOWER IS DEDICATED
TO THE MEMORY OF TANKER 61 PILOTS.
CHARLES "CHUCK" SHERIDAN AND LEONARD MARTIN.

Visitors of the observation tower will see many testaments and memorabilia dedicated to these two men.
