Limonoz, a Russian emigre poet who is living on welfare in New York City often roams the streets. On one ocassion, he mentions that he went to this fountain, puts his feet in the water and then lies down on the rim. A young boy is taunting the other people at the fountain by splashing them with water. Most of them leave, but Limonov persists...but eventually has to surrender as well...to the applause of onlookers. He then witnesses a large dog drag its owner into the water.
He spends a few hours relaxing in the park, listening to a poet, people-watching, observing the Ramakrishnas.
