La police de caractère d'inspiration gothique utilisée pour le L rappelle certains bâtiments de ce style dans le Vieux-La Prairie, vestiges de plus de trois siècles d'histoire; inversé, il évoque une maison aux lignes modernes et souligne l'importance du secteur résidentiel de la ville.
Le cercle formé par les L se veut une représentation d'un propulseur des bateaux à vapeur qui reliaient autrefois Montréal à La Prairie ainsi que les roues de locomotives du premier chemin de fer au pays, trait d’union avec Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. Le cercle représente aussi l'unité d'une communauté en mouvement.
Les lignes ondulées symbolisent la proximité du fleuve Saint-Laurent, alors que le vert et le bleu du logo représentent l'harmonie avec la nature, le calme, les horizons nouveaux ainsi que le mariage parfait d’eau et de verdure qui caractérise cette ville riveraine.

The Gothic-inspired font used for the L reminds of some of the buildings of this style in Old La Prairie, representing more than three centuries of history; inverted, it evokes a house with modern lines and emphasizes the importance of the residential sector of the city.
The circle formed by the L wants a representation of a paddle wheel from the steamboats that once linked Montréal to La Prairie and locomotive wheels of the first railway in the country, a link with Saint-Jean-sur- Richelieu. The circle also represents the unity of a community in motion.
The wavy lines symbolize the nearby St. Lawrence River, while the green and blue of the logo represents the harmony with nature, the quiet, new horizons and the perfect marriage of water and greenery that characterizes this city waterfront.
