Tenterfield's giant cork tree, still growing in Wood Street, was brought from England by Edward Parker in a jam tin in 1861. It is listed on the National Register of Big Trees 'Australia's Champion Trees'.
The Register gives the following dimensions: A circumference of 5.14 metres (202 inches), a height of 16 metres (52 feet) & a crown of 32 metres (104 feet).
It is located beside the footpath in Wood Street so you can park quite near it but it is recommended that you don't park under it as branches have a habit of falling off.
