This patriotic mural has three different panels to describe the aspects that make us proud of our American heritage. The first painting portrays Jesus with the words, “God has blessed America.” It is bordered on three sides by red and blue stripes with white stars.

The middle painting is of the American flag and an eagle, the symbol of our country’s freedom. The third painting is that of Revolutionary War drum corps parading after battle. The quote from John Adams is included: “Let us appreciate the fact that...Our freedom was won by sweat, blood, and tears.” John Quincy Adams, 1821. It is bordered on three sides by red and blue stripes with white stars.

The mural was painted by Hampton resident Charles C. Howell. There is no date on the painting but the faded paint suggests that it was done some time ago.
