"Na holešovském námestí stával již na pocátku 14. století gotický kostelík se hrbitovem obehnaný zdí. Fara se u nej pripomíná listinou z roku 1322 ve spojení se jménem faráre Fridlina. Soucasná stavba kostela byla dokoncena v roce 1708. Vnitrní architektura byla dotvárena za Františka Antonína hrabete z Rottalu, držitele holešovského panství v letech 1717–1762. Kostel byl slavnostne vysvecen 26. cervence 1735 olomouckým svetícím biskupem Ottou Honoriem hrabetem z Egkhu a Hungersbachu."
