EN: Balancing Tools is a sculpture by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen, located at the northern border of the Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein. It was created in 1984, for the 70th birthday of the company founder Willi Fehlbaum on behalf of his children. The oversized finely balanced classical tools of a furniture maker form a gate, but the ensemble also alludes to a dance as it is performed every year of the symbolic figures of the three guilds in nearby Basel.
The sculpture has a dimension of 8 x 9 x 6.1 meters and is made of steel painted with polyurethane enamel. It is located in the immediate vicinity of some of the most famous buildings of contemporary architecture such as by Nicholas Grimshaw, Frank Gehry, Zaha Hadid, Tadao Ando, Alvaro Siza, Herzog & de Meuron and SANAA, located on the Vitra Campus that are visited annually by some 300,000 architecture enthusiasts.

Die übergrossen fein ausbalancierten klassischen Werkzeuge eines Möbelbauers bilden ein Tor, das Ensemble spielt aber auch auf einen Tanz an, wie es von den symbolischen Gestalten der drei Zünfte im nahegelegenen Basel jedes Jahr aufgeführt wird.
Die Skulptur hat die Masse von 8 x 9 x 6.1 Metern und ist aus mit Polyurethan emailierten Stahl gefertigt. Es befindet sich in unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft einiger der bekanntesten Bauwerke der zeitgenössischen Architektur z.B. von Nicholas Grimshaw, Frank O. Gehry, Zaha Hadid, Tadao Ando, Alvaro Siza, Herzog & de Meuron und SANAA, die sich auf dem Vitra Campus befinden und jährlich von rund 300'000 Architektur-Interessierten besucht werden.
