Taken from their website, "A lot has happened since 1952, when the Howard County Police Department was formed.
As you tour the museum, you will learn about the bravery, dedication and sacrifices displayed by the men and women of HCPD while keeping this community safe. You will learn the stories of the officers who have given their lives in service to their fellow citizens. You will hear about the major cases the Department has investigated, the disasters we have responded to, and the times we have rendered care and safekeeping to people in need. You will also discover how the Department has evolved and changed over the years to keep pace with society.
During your visit, you will also see firsthand the Department’s motto—pro bono publico—in action. We serve in partnership with our community and everything we do must be for the good of the public. This is one of our guiding principles. Our history is one of working in collaboration with citizens, community groups and businesses. We are grateful for that partnership each and every day.
Our history is more than our past. It is the foundation from which we will continue to grow, always building upon excellence."
