[FR] Fils de commerçants d'Asnières (aujourd'hui Asnières-sur-Seine), il perd son père très jeune. Signac est adoré de sa mère qui respecte ses choix. Il quitte ainsi le lycée en 1880 pour se consacrer à une vie d'artiste.
Le pont d’Asnières, par Paul Signac, donne une impression de mouvement et de tourbillon, renforcée particulièrement par les volutes de fumée de la locomotive qui forment des figures en arabesque et par l’utilisation de grands aplats de couleurs vives.
[EN] Son of Asnières merchants (today Asnières-sur-Seine), he lost his father at a very young age. Signac was adored by his mother who respected his choices. He left high school in 1880 in order to consecrate his life to art.
The Asnières bridge, by Paul Signac, gives an impression of mouvement and spinning, particularly reinforced by the curls of smoke from the locomotive which forms arabesque figures and by the usage of broad strokes of bright colors.
