This is a memorial placed decades ago to honor American Legion veterans.

This American Legion memorial is located in beautiful Rest Haven Memorial Cemetery on the east side of Shawnee. The cemetery was established in 1929, and this memorial was placed Memorial Day weekend in 1931.
A bronze plaque is mounted on a five foot high native stone base. Above this base is a granite pillar approximately seven feet high on which an eagle sculpture is placed, with its wings outspread.
The plaque reads:
