The Royal Australian Air Force fighter-bomber was conducting a simulated attack on the town of Tenterfield, flying low and fast (tree-top level) when it hit the ground. The plane was an F111 A8 128, which crashed on 2nd April 1987. Those killed were Flight Officer Bill Pike and Flight Lieutenant Mark Fallon.
