Who knew a Time Capsule could be so much? In 1939, the Westinghouse Corporation had a pavillion at the World's Fair in Flushing Meadows, Queens, NY. You can read about this original capsule from The New York Times Magazine or at a personal site. Intended to be opened in 6939 AD, the capsule contains textiles, microfilm, and sundries from the era.
In 1964, the World's Fair returned to the park, and so did the Westinghouse Corporation. UCLA and The New York times Magazine have information on it, but it mainly contained objects showing the progress since 1939.
This capsule, by the way, is not only a geocache (
GC2A3E) but also a NGS Benchmark (
KU3344).
