Nova Scotia highway webcams are operated by the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (TIR). They are mounted on tall steel towers, most of which have weather sensors included on the tower. The sensors measure temperature, humidity, barometric pressure and wind direction and speed.
The webcam pic below is more or less real time and will update every 15 to 30 minutes, depending on conditions.
Out in the middle of nowhere, this webcam tower at least has a bit of company. It is set amid no less than three tall microwave and cell phone towers on the north side of Highway 103, AKA the Fishermans' Memorial Highway. Looking west down the highway, the camera is 30 kilometres east of the town of Shelburne and 32 kilometres west of the town of Liverpool.
