Locally know as a Woodbooger or more commonly known as a Big Foot, sightings of these creatures here in Flag Rock Recreation Area in recent years has lead to the town of Norton to declare Flag Rock Recreation Area a Woodbooger Sanctuary.
The first Woodbooger Search Event Festival was hosted at Flag Rock Recreation Area on October 17, 2014 and will be a annual event.
The Woodbooger statue was purchaced with public donations by the City of Norton, Virginia and placed here at the trailhead to the Flag Rock overlook.
