Claude Muncaster was born Graeme Hall in 1903 at West Chiltington, the son of the artist Oliver Hall. He changed his name in 1923 to Claude Muncaster. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1921, with a one man show at the Fine Art Society in 1926. He served in the RNVR during the Second World War. He was commissioned to do a series of watercolours of royal residences in 1946.
