As described by the CGS in 1956 in reference to its associated Triangulation Station Disk (BN0600, which was noted as "Mark Not Found" in 2005):

"THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 1/2 MILE NORTHEAST OF MARBLE FALLS AND ADJACENT TO THE NORTHEAST MUNICIPAL WATER TANK.
[...] REFERENCE MARK 2 IS SET IN A DRILL HOLE IN THE CONCRETE FOUNDATION OF THE TANK, AND THE DISK IS STAMPED MARBLE FALLS NO 2 1956.
[...] TO REACH THE MARK FROM THE JUNCTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 281 AND FARM ROAD 1431, GO NORTH ON HIGHWAY 281 FOR 0.2 MILE TO THE MARK ON THE RIGHT."

The 1956 description and associated reference points (i.e. distances/directions) are still decent references for locating this station, although some clarifications might be in order to simplify future recovery attempts:

* The "NORTHEAST MUNICIPAL WATER TANK" is located on Villa Viejo, just south of its intersection of FM-1431 and .42 miles EAST (not NORTH) from the junction of FM-1431 and US Hwy 281.

* The water tank in question is a NGS Benchmark itself as well: BN0599 ("MARBLE FALLS NE MUN TANK 1956").

* As stated in the 1956 narrative, this particular Reference Mark is set on top of the water tank's concrete foundation -- just by the outside rim of the water tank.

The entire water tank area is fenced off, and as such it is not possible to inspect the disk up close... that said, zoomed in images taken from 20-25' west of the station clearly indicate that the disk is a CGS reference mark (along with the usual stamped arrow pointing to the presumably defunct Triangulation Station) and seemed to be in good condition -- despite having been slightly painted over.

Since the area is fenced off, it is equally not possible to accurately measure its precise coordinates. However, based on readings from the fence line (as measured within 10' accuracy and 10+ reading averages), is it calculated that its coordinates should be close to "N 30° 34.418 W 098° 15.862"

No NGS Data Sheet exists for "CV4717", just its associated Triangulation Station "BN0600". Below are the references of CV4717 in that particular NGS Data Sheet (abbreviated for length): (visit link)
