The Töpferbrunnen (German for pottery fountain) is the landmark of the small town of Kohren-Sahlis, which calls itself a "pottery town".
The fountain was created in 1928 by ceramic artist Kurt Feuerriegel.
It consists of a series of ceramic tiles, made of Rochlitz Porphyr. The tiles illustrate the process of making pottery: mining clay, using a turntable, modelling, painting, glazing, and firing.
The final products were sold by women on local markets, thus the fountain is crowned by a market woman, known as "Töpferfrau" (pottery woman).
