For fifty five years, the John J. Lopatich Funeral Home, Inc., has served the Latrobe and surrounding communities with care and compassion and a sincere desire to help. Its founder, John J. Lopatich, earned his funeral director's degree in 1951. In 1955, Mr. Lopatich purchased a home on the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Weldon Street which became the humble beginnings of the establishment.

On October 11, 1958, he opened the John J. Lopatich Funeral Home. With the assistance of his wife, Ann, the Lopatich's built their business from the ground up while raising their family of four children.

The time and care Mr. Lopatich had put into his work is evident in the beauty and construction of the funeral home. The early years of its existence saw many changes at his hands to expand the facilities in order to better accomodate the families he served. Throughout the years, he built relationships with the families in our community through his service and compassion. His slogan, "Where dignity prevails", was evident in his actions. The time that he spent dedicated to his business and the quality of his work have been passed down through the years and because of that, the John J. Lopatich Funeral Home, Inc. continues to be "Where dignity Prevails."

John and Ann's eldest son, John S. Lopatich, a 1977 graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, joined his father in the family business. Then, in 1987, after graduating from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, their youngest son, Joseph P. Lopatich, also joined his father and brother in business.

John J. Lopatich retired from the funeral home in 1986, but continued to help his sons throughout the years. Until his passing on September 27, 2008, he played an integral role in the organization. His final project that he began brought to life a goal that he had for his business for years, to provide ample off-street parking for those who visit our funeral home. Completed just two weeks after his passing, our funeral home now offers parking for up to 60 vehicles.

John and Joe Lopatich have run the business since their father's retirement, and are proud to maintain the image their father has set for them. Their compassion and kindness is unmatchable, as well as the dignity which they bring to the funeral service industry. The Lopatich's are constantly seeking ways to improve their establishment and will do all in their power to ease the burden of the families they serve. Throughout the years, the John J. Lopatich Funeral Home, Inc., has provided the most up-to-date facilities. The same is true today as the funeral home advances with updates in technology. However the appearance of the funeral home may change, the dependability and quality of service which the staff of Lopatich's provides, remains the same. Rest assured that John, Joe and the entire staff will continue the tradition of quality service and maintain the image that this is certainly where dignity prevails.
