Josef Jambor se narodil jako jedno z dvanácti detí. Roku 1887 se narodili na Vysocine dva významní umelci - Josef Jambor a o pár mesícu starší Oldrich Blažícek.
Roku 1915 se Josef Jambor stal predsedou spolku akademického studentstva (až do roku 1918). Roku 1917 se oženil s Josefou Markalousovou. Jambor dokoncil studia roku 1919, kdy se stal grafikem. Je zarazován do poválecné generace jako grafik, i když se této profesi témer vubec nevenoval. Více Jambora lákaly olejomalby, obzvlášte pak krajinárské motivy. Duvodem zmeny umeleckého zamerení byla zrejme reakce na první svetovou válku, strach o znicení ceské krásy krajiny. Josef Jambor se stal krajinárem.
Do roku 1923 se venoval hledání inspirace cestováním po poválecné Evrope. Navštívil Jugoslávii, Nemecko, Holandsko, Itálii, Belgii a další zeme. Roku 1923 usporádal výstavu techto obrazu. Tyto cesty ho však ujistily o tom, že ceská krajina je nejkrásnejší. Roku 1927 se Jambor rozešel se svou manželkou a odstehoval se z Prahy do Nového Mesta na Morave. Po výstave Soudobé kultury v Brne v roce 1928 se Josef Jambor stal známým a také oblíbeným malírem. Ve tricátých letech a po druhé svetové válce se s oblibou venoval nejen malbe krajiny, ale i malbe hub. V roce 1931 se Josef Jambor trvale odstehoval do Tišnova, kde si vzal za ženu Boženu Chlupovou.

Roku 1946 dostal moravskou zemskou cenu pro výtvarné umení. V roce 1957 mu udelilo mesto Tišnov ocenení Cestný obcan mesta. Pri oslave 75. narozenin v roce 1962 byl uznán zasloužilým umelcem za své celoživotní dílo. Josefu Jamborovi se nekdy prezdívá „Malír Vysociny“, protože inspiraci cerpal prevážne kolem své chalupy na Blatinách na Vysocine (Ceskomoravská vrchovina).

Krátce pred svou smrtí v zárí 1964 se rozhodl odkázat Tišnovu sbírku svých 40 obrazu a dále 7 obrazu svých prátel - malíru. O pár dnu pozdeji 17.zárí 1964 zemrel v Tišnove po težké nemoci. Dum, ve kterém bydlel byl pojmenován "Jamboruv dum". V roce 1996 byl nove zrekonstruován a prestehovala se sem stálá expozice obrazu, které venoval Tišnovu, z muzea v Predklášterí.

Josef Jambor was born as one of twelve children. 1887 were born in the highlands of two major artists - Josef Jambor and a few months older Oldrich Blažícek.
In 1915, Josef Jambor became president of the association Academic Students (until 1918). In 1917 he married Josefa Markalousovou. Jambor graduated in 1919, when he became a graphic designer. It is included into the postwar generation as a graphic designer, even though this profession almost entirely ignored. More Sambora enticed oil painting, especially landscape motifs. The reason that the art direction was probably a reaction to the First World War, fear of destruction Czech beauty of the landscape. Josef Jambor became a landscape painter.
Until 1923 he devoted himself to finding inspiration traveling the post-war Europe. He visited Yugoslavia, Germany, Holland, Italy, Belgium and other countries. In celebration of the 75th birthday in 1962 was recognized merited artist for his life work. Joseph Jamborovi is sometimes called the "Painter of the Highlands", because he drew inspiration mainly around his cottage on Blatinách the highlands (Moravian Highlands).

Shortly before his death in September 1964, decided to refer the town a collection of his 40 paintings and 7 paintings of his friends - painters. A few days later, September 17, 1964 in Tišnove died after a severe illness. The house in which he lived was named "Jamboruv house". In 1996, the newly renovated and moved here a permanent exhibition of paintings, which he dedicated emergency, from a museum in Predklášterí.
