Hunebed D9 - Annen NL - Megalithic Monuments on Waymarking.com

The province of Drenthe has many dolmen, called "Hunebed" in Dutch.

D9 is a small, incomplete dolmen that right along a busy road in Annen is situated. It still has its own area but is otherwise completely absorbed by the surrounding buildings.
Therefore, the site is often polluted and the monument has been used for years as a bicycle parking. The problem is known to the authorities, but unfortunately that has not yet led to measures that do justice to the necessary respect for our national heritage.
A bad thing. While a (provisional) and cheap solution so obvious: Put a simple bike against the side of the property.
(Update: since March 2010 and there is a bike rack and a prohibition of re storing bicycles)

Type: Dolmen Parking: N 53° 03.685 W 006° 42.924 Number: 10.00 Size: Length: 7 m. Width: approximately 2.5 m. Source: The rocks of the Dutch dolmen are thought to have been moved here during the Ice Age, when the land ice stretched to the middle of the country as we now know it. Purpose: Even though "hunebedden" are often thought to be burial grounds, there is ample evidence that corpses were burnt instead of buried. Some of the "hunebedden" do contain artifacts thought to be to help deceased people on their last voyage.
