The sculpture shows St George standing in his stirrups. He is dressed in armour and in hands is a lance that has been thrust down into the dragon that is below the tilting grid and wrapped around the supporting framework. The dragon's tail extends up through the grid close to the horse'e left hind leg. Four shaped tubes extend form the dragon's mouth, ending in nozzles, that create the fountain.
