This monument is erected near the USS Alabama. It stands by itself, isolated, in the same way as our POWs did and those who are still missing do.
This monument, while small and subtle, packs a real emotional punch. We must never forget our prisoners of war and those who are still missing in action.
On the side of the Memorial the outline of the state of Alabama is inscribed. Stars indicate the hometowns of the former POWs and current MIAs from the state of Alabama.
