The grave of Dom Diogo da Gama is located in the Cloister of the Cemetery in the Convent of the Order of Christ. The cloister was used as a cemetery for the friars and the knights Order of Christ that were buried on the ground under the stone floor but the most important one have monumental tombs on the walls. Dom Diogo da Gama is one of three that have that honor.

Dom Diogo da Gama Was a knight Templar of the Order of Christ an he became the Prior-mor of the Order of Christ.
The Military Order of Christ previously the Order of the Knights of Our Lord Jesus Christ was the former Knights Templar order in Portugal, after the suppression of the Templars in 1312, by direct order of the Pope Clement V. It was founded in 1318, with the protection of the Portuguese King Dinis I, who refused to pursue and persecute the former knights as had occurred in all the other sovereign states under the Catholic Church influence.
