Das genaue Baujahr der mittelalterlichen Dorfkirche in Westuffeln ist nicht bekannt. Nur der Kirchturm ist von dieser frühromanischen Kirche noch erhalten geblieben, die in Westuffeln zwischen dem 10. und 12. Jahrhundert errichtet worden ist und damals dem heiligen Johannes geweiht wurde.
Das heutige Kirchenschiff im neugotischen Stil wurde ab dem Jahre 1882 errichtet und am 18. März 1883 eingeweiht. Bei einer umfassenden Restaurierung im Jahre 1982 erhielt die Kirche auch eine Heizung.
