The Hospital of the Holy Cross is located on Abbey Foregate in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
The Hospital of the Holy Cross, in Shrewsbury's Abbey Foregate, was built during the Victorian period (1837-1901), by Samuel Pountney Smith. Smith was also responsible for the rebuilding of Battlefield church during the same period. These almshouses and the Hospital of the Holy Cross were built using Samuel Pountney's neo Gothic design in 1853. Holy Cross is the name of the local parish, and Shrewsbury's Abbey church, which is just opposite these buildings and is the local parish church.
The Hospital of the Holy Cross is a Grade II Listed Building (Date Listed: 10 January 1953 ; English Heritage Building ID: 455064).
