Three broken column tombstones bear mute witness to tragedies suffered by the Haspel family. These broken columns are in the same plot as their parents
As you face the tombstones, on the farthest right, the grave of young Nathan Haspel:
"[front] Nathan Haspel
Our youngest son
Born Nov 2, 1886
Died Dec 8, 1893
[back]
HASPEL
Sleep on dear son,
and take thy rest
God called you home.
He thought it best"
The middle tombstone marks the grave of Marx L. Haspel, Nathan's brother. His tombstone reads as follows:
MARX L. HASPELL
Son of Simon Haspell
Born
Sept 1 1877
Died
Oct 31 1897
Next is the parents grave, as follows:
"In sacred memory of
FANNY
Beloved wife of
S. Haspel
Died Feb’y 16, 1904, aged 51 years
Simon Haspel
Died April 19, 1916, aged 73 years
To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die."
Finally, on the far left is the grave of another Haspel son:
"Abraham Haspel
Born
Aug 3, 1873
Died
Apr 20, 1899
May he rest in peace"
