[FR] À l'intersection de la Grande Rue et de la Place Joseph Malval se trouve gravé dans la pierre le célèbre Appel du 18 juin 1940 du Général de Gaulle. A côté de la plaque se trouve une plaque commémorative avec le profil de Charles de Gaulle moulé dans du bronze. Le texte ci-dessous.
[EN] At the crossing of the Grande Rue street and the Joseph Malval Place, is etched in stone the famous Appeal of 18 june 1940, by the General de Gaulle. Near this place is another one with the face of the General made of iron.

La France a perdu une bataille !
Mais la France n'a pas perdu la guerre !
Des gouvernants de rencontre ont pu capituler, cédant à la panique, oubliant l'honneur, livrant le pays à la servitude. Cependant, rien n'est perdu !
Rien n'est perdu, parce que cette guerre est une guerre mondiale. Dans l'univers libre, des forces immenses n'ont pas encore donné. Un jour, ces forces écraseront l'ennemi. Il faut que la France, ce jour-là, soit présente à al victoire. Alors, elle retrouvera sa liberté et sa grandeur. Tel est mon but, mon seul but !
Voilà pourquoi je convie tous les Français, où qu'ils se trouvent, à s'unir à moi dans l'action, dans le sacrifice et dans l'espérance.
Notre patrie est en péril de mort.

C'est en effet pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale que le Général de Gaulle fit cet appel depuis Londres, pour mobiliser les français et organiser la résistance. Après la libération, il devint le 18ème président de la République française (1958) et le tout premier Président de la Ve République.
That's during the World War II that the General de Gaulle made this Appeal from London, to organize the opposition to the german occupation. After the Liberation of Paris, he became President of the Republic in 1958.
