Wooden CN caboose #78571 on display outside the former CN railroad depot in downtown Bancroft.
The caboose started life in Chicago as a boxcar on the Grand Trunk Western Railway (GTW). In 1947 it was converted to a caboose at CN's Leaside shops in Toronto. It entered service 13 December of that year.
It was retired in the 1980's.
The caboose has been restored to its 1940's appearance inside and out.
Current Use:
Hastings Heritage Park display outside the former CN station in Bancroft.
