The monument may have had a future as a grave marker, as it's the right shape. On the front is:

defenders, we dedicate this marker
on Sunday - October 27, 1996

With respect and pride, we honor
their Confederate service during the
War Between the States, 1861 - 1865.

We remember their gallant efforts to
preserved States' Rights and salute their
dedication to God, family and duty.

Lest We Forget
