This commemorative Blue Plaque is situated 50 yards to the south of the present railway viaduct on Market Place, in Shifnal.

Balcony House was the 18th Century home of Humphrey Pitt of Priorslee Hall.

It was the birthplace in 1760 of physician Thomas Beddoes who became Professor of Chemistry at Oxford University and who was an early pioneer of the use of gases in medicine.

The property currently occupying the site is Odfellows Wine Bar.
