Includes part of Placer County also. This was one of the big 4, Central Valley Water Projects of the 1950s. It collected water from the three forks of the American River, north, middle, and south.

There is a two lane road across the earth fill & concrete dam.
Until 9/11, one could take tours into and see the generators inside the dam. No more. There is now a new bridge north of the dam.
Folsom prison is to the southeast.
