The planetarium of Freiburg is located at Bismarckallee 7, this is a northern annex building of the main station complex.

The planetarium offers four different shows, suited for different target audience ages. You can find more details on their web site.

The morning show are reserved for schools. There are public shows on 3 P.M. (children and family program) and 7:30 P.M.

The dome has a diameter of 13 meters and 140 seats. The site uses a "Starmaster" projector by Zeiss-Jena, and in 2013 an additional SkySkan full dome video system was added.

This planetarium opened on December 3, 2002. From 1974 until 2001 there was a predecessor at another location in town that was operated with hardware some enthusiasts built on their own. The old projector is now on display in the entrance area of the current site.
