In Memory of
MARY LEE PETTIT
Presented by the
CARTERSVILLE GARDEN CLUB
1977

"The wedding of Miss Mary Lee Milhollin and Mr. Luther Pettit, which took place Tuesday evening, July 6th, at Cassville was a very pretty affair. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Mr. Yearby in the Cassville Methodist church.
The attendants were Mr. Arthur Milhollin, Mr. Rae Loveless, Mr. J. W. Harris and Mr. T. E. Pittard, of this city. The bridesmaids were, Miss Gertrude Milhollin, Miss Lois Pittard, Miss Dell Headden, of Cassville and Miss Ethel Griffin, of this city, and Miss Nellie Paseny and Mrs. Max Pittard, of Atlanta, matron of honor.
The wedding music was rendered by Miss Gertrude Chunn. Just before the ceremony Miss Mary Lizzie Renfroe sang “O Promise Me.” The maid wore light blue messaline and carried pink carnations. The bride’s gown was messaline satin made princess, her flowers were a shower bouquet of bride roses and valley lilies. Her going away gown was a tan cloth suit, with hat to match.
The bride is the bright and attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Milhollin, of Cassville and is quite a popular young lady and has many friends who congratulate Mr. Pettit on his good fortune.
Mr. Pettit is a young man of splendid traits of character and holds a responsible position with the L. & N. railroad in this city.
Mr. and Mrs. Pettit left Tuesday evening for a trip to Cincinnati and other northern cities and on their return will make their home in Cartersville." ~ The Cartersville News: July 15, 1909
