The installation of the 1972 Mirage is a means of promoting the air base 115 and the Air Force who celebrate their respectively 70 and 75 years. The traffic circle was opened the 18th July 2010 in the presence of Mr. Mayor Jacques Bompard Orange and colonel Cerise of the base 115 .
On the beautifully streamlined device, one can see the coat of arms of the city of Orange and the flag of the 5th squadron. Created the Liberation, this squadron was illustrated in various fields of external operations like the war in Indochina or Algeria , interventions in Chad , Iraq or Bosnia. It was dissolved in 1995 , but with the strong symbol at the entrance of Orange, the city hopes to improve its image and " stress the importance of national defense, key point of sovereignty ," reflects our contributor .
