Location of memorial: US 40 (Wabash Ave.) & US 41 (N. 7th St.), Crossroads of America, Terre Haute

Marker text:
On these sidewalks, Eddie Taylor - Mayor of 7th and Wabash - peddled newspapers from 1916 to 1957, advancing freedom of the press one American at a time
May those who walk these same Terre Haute streets value that freedom in Eddie's memory

2003 "Mayor Judy Anderson proclaimed Oct. 8 as “Eddie Taylor Day” commemorating the late Taylor’s 41 years (1916-1957) of service to the city as a Tribune and Star carrier. He had lost his lower arms in a sawmill accident before he began selling newspapers on the corner of Seventh Street and Wabash Avenue." ~ Terre Haute Tribune Star
