A few decades ago the towns of Kinnaird and Castlegar joined to become the larger town/city of Castlegar. The church is on Merrycreek Road, immediately west of the overpass which carries Highway 3 over Highway 22/Columbia Avenue.

Originally known as the Kinnaird United Church, then the Castlegar - Kinnaird United Church, and finally the Castlegar United Church, its records date back to 1930. It's not known, though, whether this building is the original 1930 church. Given its location near the highway in Kinnaird, it could well be.

Castlegar United Church is a pastoral charge of the United Church of Canada. Still very active, weekly services are held in the church at 10:00 a.m. each Sunday.
