[DE] Am Hotel "Deutsches Haus" in der Northeimer Fussgängerzone befindet sich ein Schild mit der Aufschrift "10. Grad östlicher Länge. Der 10. Längengrad verläuft ebenfalls durch die Städte Hamburg und Ulm". Ausserdem ist der Verlauf des Längengrads mit weissen Steinen im Kopfsteinpflaster markiert.
Sowohl die GPS-Messung als auch diverse online verfügbare Karten zeigen den Längengrad allerdings 80-90m weiter östlich an. Auf einer offiziellen topografischen Karte des Landes Niedersachsen stimmt der Verlauf mit den Markern allerdings sehr gut überein. Woher dieser Unterschied kommt, ist uns nicht ganz klar, ev. könnte es aber auf unterschiedliche Koordinatensysteme zurückzuführen sein. Falls jemand uns Genaueres mitteilen kann, freuen wir uns.
[EN] This information sign at the Hotel "Deutsches Haus" in the pedestrian area of Northeim reads "10 degrees east longitude. The 10th meridian also runs through the cities of Hamburg and Ulm". Moreover, there is a white cobblestone line in the pavement to mark its location.
Both our GPS measurement and various online maps have the meridian about 80-90 metres further east. In contrast, an official map of the state of Niedersachsen shows it exactly at the site of the markers. We are not sure how this discrepancy arises, but maybe it is because of the use of different coordinate systems. If somebody knows for sure, please let us know.
