Located in the square in Abbeville, SC, this county courthouse was built in 1908 at the time same the City Hall, now the Abbeville Opera House next to it was built. It was designed by William Augustus Edwards who also designed several other South Carolina courthouses. In 1963 it got an extensive renovation and in 1981 was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The land before it was built housed the law offices of John C. Calhoun, who was twice Vice-President.

It is also home to several veterans memorial and the town clock.
