This round-lidded Permanent Marker on Myall River Road has 3 unique indicators to enable the Waymarker to find this State Survey Marker, which I would rate as a Difficulty 2½ SSM to locate.

What I first saw from the car @ 2230 was a star picket with faded yellow paint on the upper part of it. But on a close search no SSM could be found. On searching by shining the torch around I noticed a blue "Survey Control Mark" tag about 8 m away loosely nailed to an old fence post. There wasn't any yellow paint on this post tho.
About 5 minutes later I noticed a blazed tree the other side of a very rusty and loose barbed-wire fence; and this blaze was painted yellow. This was perpendicular 'in line with' the star picket from the roadway, but maybe 6 m further away.
A further 10 minutes was spent trying work out the possibilities of placement. On getting my pointed walking pole from the car I was able to hit metal on the second prod about 200 mm towards the road from the star picket. Completely covered with sand it would be easily found with a metal detector! With some difficulty it was opened, and I found a vigorous ant's nest.
A shortened star picket was eventually exposed, and the number on the lid confirmed as 86802. Discovered @ 2255, 23/12/14 after achieving a local geodash.
At present the next closest Waymark is a 'Wagon Wheels' category about 2.5 km away towards Bulahdelah.
It seems that while the road is called Myall River Road, there are private properties preventing public access to it.
