Sparky, a Dalmatian dog, was the Montville Fire Department mascot for almost 10 years until he died in 1984. After his passing the firefighters created a memorial for Sparky by painting a large rock outcropping to resemble Sparky. The resulting image is about 18' high by 33' long. Sparky wears a red collar with a tag in the form of a fire hydrant inscribed MFD1. Sparky is well cared for since he is repainted at frequent intervals.
