This former Kaufhaus "WEKA" (Westphalen-Kaufhaus) is a big store in the centre of Gelsenkirchen. Nowadays they call it WEKA-Karree.
Walter Klose und Georg Schäfer from Düsseldorf were the architects of the building.
It was built 1908 and expanded 1926.
The first owner of this store was the jewish Gebr. Alsberg AG.
They were deported by the Nazis and later on they were murdered.
