Built in 1849 for a Methodist convention, Seguin's first church building was used by worshipers of all Protestant denominations for some years.

In 1991, the Seguin Conservation Society (SCC) purchased and moved the First Church to its current location across from the SCC museum. It has been restored and modernized with electric lights, air conditioning, and restrooms.
