What has happend here on 8/8/1989?
'Background to the act
In a control in a tram line 9 Frederic Otomo was controlled and could not show a valid ticket. Otomo struck one of the two controllers in the face; he lost several teeth. He escaped from the tram stop at the "Landhausstraße". After the act it turned out that his ticket was valid well. After the injury was wanted for him. At 6:50, half an hour after the incident in the tram, the investigation in the area Wholesale Market was canceled. Other sources give a one-hour manhunt.

Murder on the Gaisburg Bridge
Shortly after 9 clock Otomo was found by a patrol during traffic surveillance on the Gaisburger bridge. The officers Harald Poppe and Peter Quast received support from another patrol car, talking to the man, but received no response from him. They could not arrest him. Otomo should then be placed into a police VW van. During an officer had occupied the radio, Otomo should be arrested by five officers. They stood in a semicircle around him. Otomo fled, but was already caught by a few meters. The next moment it seemed as Otomo bump with his rolled-up newspaper according to the police. The newspaper contained a bayonet, which he always took with him. Within 15 seconds, three officers were injured. Police upper master Harald Poppe received a lung puncture, but could again shoot at the offender. The injured offender stabbed police foreman Peter Quast's heart. The also downed Jürgen Haehnlein fired three times at the fleeing offender and hit him fatally.

The 28-year-old Quast died at the scene, Poppe, 27, an hour later at the hospital. Jürgen Haehnlein and Joachim L. were seriously, another policeman slightly injured.'
