The Eiffel tower was built between 1887 to 1889. The tower was the monumental entrance and observation tower for the World Exhibition to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution. Named after the designer, Gustave Eiffel. The tower was from its construction until completion of the Chrysler Building in 1930 in New York, the tallest building in the world.
