Dream Cycles - ScienceWorks - Ashland, OR - Kinetic Sculpture and Art on Waymarking.com

Located in front of ScienceWorks, a hands-on museum for people of all ages is this kinetic sculpture titled 'Dream Cycles' made of moveable metal parts that contain cups that grab the air in pockets to move the spoked wheels, which in turn rotate two large, flat pieces of metal that reminded me of an oil pumpjack (nodding donkey) that one sees in the Texas deserts. The YouTube link to the sculpture gives one a good idea of how it operates in motion. This is a great addition to the science museum and was created by a well-known creative designer of aircraft and and other collaborative pieces for film and television as well as for other corporate entities. In 2000 he turned his attention to kinetic art and has created many pieces like the sculpture that exists at ScienceWorks. He relocated to Ashland, OR from Los Angeles and has been continuing doing what he does best: creating flying aircraft of various types. He is truly a 'Jack of all trades' in terms of creative aircraft design, film props, models/miniatures and kinetic art.
