Daniel Paul Sweeney, age 59, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital. Dan was born November 29, 1948 in Carrollton, Missouri, the son of Harry Eugene and Clara Wilhelmina (Lock) Sweeney. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from Carrollton High School in 1966. He joined the United States Army in September 1968, serving in Vietnam from March 1969 to March 1970. On March 7, 1969 he married Cheri Lou Wolf at the United Methodist Church in Carrollton. She survives at the home. Dan worked for McClure Motors, Williams Clothing, Carl's Menswear, was in electrical sales and was a carpenter, building many homes in the area. He had been a project manager for the Carrollton Library, Carrollton City Hall, Carrollton Fabrication Services and had served on the new Carrollton Elementary School Building Committee. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Carrollton where he served on the Parrish Council. He was a member of the Carrollton FFA Alumni and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773. Dan is also survived by two children, Brian Sweeney and wife Kelly, Carrollton, Missouri, Carri Hutchinson and husband Brian, Carrollton, Missouri, six grandchildren, Dakota Sweeney, Cierra Sweeney, Owen Sweeney, Breanna Hutchinson, Blake Hutchinson, Brice Hutchinson, six brothers, Raymond Sweeney, Carrollton, Missouri, Gene Sweeney, Brimfield, Illinois, Dick Sweeney, Bosworth, Missouri, Bill Sweeney, Carrollton, Missouri, Bob Sweeney, Carrollton, Missouri, John Sweeney, Carrollton, Missouri, six sisters, Dorothy Huppe, McClean, Virginia, Pat Calvert, Nebraska City, Nebraska, Margaret Stober, John's Island, South Carolina, Rita Bales, Macon, Missouri, Connie Wiard, Carrollton, Missouri, Annette Smith, Carrollton, Missouri, brother-in-law, William L. (Bud) Wolf, Kansas City, Kansas, an aunt, Kathryn Davies, Independence, Missouri. His parents, and two sisters, Rose Marie Lavelock and Betty Armentrout, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Ken Criqui officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri, with Military Services provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773, Carrollton, Missouri. Visitation will be from 7-8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with a Rosary at 8:00 p.m. The family suggests contributions be made to H.E.L.P. Services, MIA/POW Memorial Fund, or the Carroll County Arts Council in memory of Dan. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S.
